Since 1988, the Friends of the Library have donated over $200,000 to the St. Albert Public Library. Below are the key initiatives to which we are focusing our fundraising. These initiatives are decided by the Friends based on needs the Library identifies to us each year and our team’s ideas on where our dollars can have an impact.
You can choose to donate to a specific fund or contribute to our general fund. As a non-profit organization and a registered charity, we submit annual returns to the CRA and provide tax receipts to donors. For more information, please contact us at friends@sapl.ca

Children’s Summer Reading Game
Ever year, thousands of St. Albert children play the summer reading game to maintain and boost their reading skills and learn to love the library. The summer reading game has been a core program at the Library since 1982, and the Friends donate annually to support this program.

STARFest: St. Albert Readers Festival
STARFest is an annual celebration of writing, writers and reading. This festival brings authors to the Library and the Arden Theatre year-round for interesting conversations. In 2020, the event was held virtually.
